The Intake Centre at the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary Gets Some LOVE!

Rotary People of Action Huntsville were at it again with a makeover of the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary’s intake and gift shop.

Aspen Valley’s primary goal is to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife. Once rehabilitated, animals are released back into the wild for a second chance. Each year, the Sanctuary takes in over 1,000 animals – many orphaned and in need of around-the-clock care and feeding. The Sanctuary is also home to more than 30 permanent wildlife residents, whose stories are shared during guided tours, which can be scheduled year-round. Additionally, Aspen Valley prides itself on educating the public about co-existing with wildlife, and provides humane solutions for wildlife-related issues.

“The Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary does the most amazing work! As a volunteer, I see firsthand how gentle and caring the staff and other volunteers are with the animals. First and foremost is the safety and wellbeing of the animals, they take priority in everything Aspen Valley does,” said Jennifer Jerrett, volunteer Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.

“Rotary People of Action Huntsville’s mandate is boots on the ground making a difference in our community. When we approached Aspen Valley we thought this is exactly the type of project we can step up to,” said Karen Broad, Rotary Member. The project entailed staining the entire outside of the Intake and Gift Shop building that was recently built through volunteerism.   “We rely on volunteers to help with everything from animal care, fundraising, drivers for animal transfers, tour guides, and more. Every job is essential, no matter how small," Linda Glimps, Executive Director, Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.

“This project wouldn’t be possible without community support,” said Rotary President Jennifer Jerrett. “We thrilled to partner with Sturgeons the paint company who are located just outside of Rosseau. By creating natural community partnerships we are able to complete our projects without any costs to us or the organizations we support,” said Jerrett.

“I’ve been hugely impressed with the amazing work Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary does over the years and am thrilled to support such an amazing charity who is basically located in our backyard,” says Dan Sturgeon, owner Sturgeons the paint company.
